About
I'm Aayan Mateen a DevOps engineer who runs production infrastructure from one of the most remote cities on Earth. Leh, Ladakh. 3,524 metres above sea level. Where the internet cuts out mid-deploy, power fluctuates in winter, and the nearest AWS region is a mountain range away. That's not a handicap that's my unfair advantage.
I currently keep the infrastructure alive at Onvo AI (Delaware, USA) remotely, from the Himalayas, across timezones most engineers don't even know exist. When the cluster needs attention at 2am IST, I'm already awake because the yaks outside are loud.
I've earned five certifications OCI Architect, OCI DevOps Professional, KCSA and more not to collect badges, but because I actually needed to know this stuff to keep things running in a place where Googling the answer isn't always an option. Low bandwidth taught me to build lean. Intermittent power taught me to build resilient. The altitude taught me everything else.
On the side, I founded FossLa.org to bring open-source culture to Leh, DigitalSierra to build digital infrastructure across India, and DigitalAultis a cloud-native consultancy registered in Estonia because why not run a European company from the Himalayas.
